Concrete for Mount Morris Township
Mount Morris Township lies north of Flint, and concrete contractors working here cover everything from dense suburban streets near the city to open lots on the township's west side. The township was established on February 12, 1855, with the first election held in an abandoned log cabin. It covers about 31.5 square miles and had 20,024 residents in the 2020 census, down from 23,725 in 2000. In 2000 it counted 9,521 housing units. Much of the southeast portion is part of the Flint urban area, and the rest is more spread out.
The urban southeast
The southeast part of the township, around Beecher and the I-475 and M-54 corridors, has the densest housing. Homes there are mostly from the 1950s and 1960s, and the concrete jobs are driveway and walk replacement, settled stoops and cracked garage floors. On these lots we usually work close to the house and neighbors' property, so careful forming and clean saw-cut edges matter.
The open west side
Farther west toward Flushing and Clio addresses, lots are larger and the work changes: long drives, slabs for detached garages and pole barns, and bigger patios. Larger slabs need thicker sections where vehicles park, a compacted base, and joints spaced for the size of the floor. We also check how water moves across a big open lot so a new slab does not end up catching runoff.
Highways and salt
I-75, I-475 and M-54 all run through the township, and I-75 and US 23 run together north and south. Busy roads mean heavy plowing and salting every winter, and the edge of a driveway at the road takes the worst of it. Air-entrained concrete, a sealer once the slab cures, and rinsing salt off in late winter all help a new apron last.
Water and permits
On November 27, 2017, the northern Genesee County loop, including the township, began receiving water from the Karegnondi Water Authority pipeline. The township has its own building department and is a separate government from the City of Mount Morris, which borders it on the east. Approaches on county roads go through the Genesee County Road Commission. We confirm which permits your project needs before we schedule. Our work covers driveways, patios, stamped concrete, walks and steps, garage, shed and pole barn slabs, and concrete repair. Call (810) 428-0447 to book a visit.

Mount Morris Township Questions
Is Mount Morris Township the same as the City of Mount Morris?
No. They are separate governments with separate permit offices. The city borders the township on the east. We confirm which one covers your address.
Can you pour a pole barn slab on a west-side lot?
Yes. We size the slab and base for what will sit on it, set joints for a large floor, and check township permit requirements for the building and slab.
How do I keep a new driveway apron from scaling near the road?
We pour air-entrained concrete and recommend a penetrating sealer once it cures, reapplied every few years. Rinsing off heavy road salt in late winter also helps.
