Concrete Across Davison Township
Davison Township surrounds the City of Davison east of Flint, and concrete contractors here see one of the fastest-growing parts of the county. The township had 4,948 residents in 1960, 13,708 in 1980, 17,722 in 2000 and 20,434 in 2020, more than four times its 1960 size. That growth came in waves of subdivisions and new homes on rural parcels, so the township has driveways and patios from every decade since the 1960s, and a lot of them are now due for replacement.
Lakes and creeks
The township's main waterways are Black Creek and Kearsley Creek. Black Creek starts at Potter Lake, about 150 acres in section 1, which the township shares with Elba Township in Lapeer County, along with Hasler Lake in section 36. It flows through the City of Davison and joins Kearsley Creek near the western border. Lots along these creeks and lakes can have wet soil and slopes toward the water. We check the subgrade, dig out soft material and set grade so runoff does not run under the slab or carry toward the lake.
Subdivision and country work
In the subdivisions, the work is mostly driveway replacement and widening, back patios, front walks and steps, and garage floors. On larger lots, owners ask for long driveways, aprons where the drive meets the road, and slabs for pole barns, detached garages and shops. We size thickness and reinforcement for the load, especially where trucks, trailers or equipment will sit.
Roots in Lapeer County
The township was organized around April 6, 1840, and transferred from Lapeer County to Genesee County by an act of the legislature on March 9, 1843. It was named for Judge Norman Davison. The first highway was laid out on March 28, 1837. Today the township's roads include county roads, so a new drive approach may need Genesee County Road Commission approval along with any township permit. We check both.
Water and permits
On November 27, 2017, the area began receiving water from the Karegnondi Water Authority pipeline. The township is governed separately from the City of Davison, even though both use Davison addresses, and permits come from whichever government covers your lot. Our work in Davison Township includes driveways and approaches, patios, stamped concrete, walks and steps, garage, shed and pole barn slabs, and concrete repair. Call (810) 428-0447 to book a visit.

Davison Township Questions
My property is on Potter Lake. Can you pour a patio near the water?
Yes. We check soil near the shore, build a well-compacted base and grade the patio so runoff is not sent toward the lake.
Do I need a permit for a pole barn slab in Davison Township?
Accessory buildings and their slabs often need township approval. We check what your project needs before we schedule.
Is the township the same as the City of Davison?
No. They are separate governments with separate permit offices, even though both use Davison addresses.
