Concrete Work in Frankenmuth
Frankenmuth is in Saginaw County, north of Flint along the Cass River, and it is at the north end of the area our concrete contractors serve. German settlers arrived in 1845 after leaving Germany that April. Frankenmuth became a village in 1904 and a city on October 1, 1959. The 2020 census counted 4,987 residents and 2,474 housing units. Most of the city's growth came after it became a city: the population was 1,728 in 1960 and nearly tripled to 4,838 by 2000.
A city that grew after 1960
With the population nearly tripling after 1960, a large share of Frankenmuth's driveways, patios, walks and garage slabs were poured from the 1960s through the 2000s. The oldest of those are now 50 to 60 years old, and the newer ones are reaching the age where scaling, cracked aprons and settled patios show up. When a patio or walk is being replaced anyway, it is a good time to consider stamped or colored finishes as well as plain broom finish.
The Cass River and low ground
The Cass River passes through Frankenmuth, and the city sits at about 637 feet, more than 100 feet lower than Flint. Heritage Park on Weiss Street has a riverwalk about 0.9 miles long, and Zehnder's Holzbrücke, a covered bridge completed in 1979, crosses the river at 239 feet long. Lower ground near a river tends to have wetter soil in spring and a higher water table. On those lots we pay extra attention to base depth, compaction and grade so the slab does not settle or hold water.
Busy streets and visitor traffic
The city draws visitors year-round for the Bavarian Festival, which began in 1959, Oktoberfest, first held in 1990, and its shops and restaurants along Main Street. Homes near downtown can have limited parking and busy streets, so we schedule concrete delivery and pours to keep driveways and sidewalks open as much as possible and to avoid big event weekends.
Saginaw County permits
Because Frankenmuth is in Saginaw County, its permit offices and road agency are different from our Genesee County jobs. Work inside the city goes through the City of Frankenmuth, and addresses outside the city fall under Frankenmuth Township. We check what your project needs before we schedule. Our Frankenmuth work covers driveways, patios, stamped concrete, walks and steps, garage and shed slabs, and concrete repair. Call (810) 428-0447 to book a visit.

Frankenmuth Questions
Do you work in Frankenmuth, in Saginaw County?
Yes. Frankenmuth is the north end of our service area. We handle city or township permits for the work we do there.
Is stamped concrete a good fit for a Frankenmuth patio?
It can be. Stamped concrete gives you pattern and color, but in Michigan it needs a quality sealer reapplied every few years. We talk through patterns, colors and maintenance before you choose.
My home is near the Cass River. Does that change the job?
Lower ground near a river can be wetter. We check the soil, build a deeper compacted base where needed and set grade so water drains away.
